Betty Marie Chandler 93, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas. She was born Teckla Betty Marie Nordin on October 1, 1926 in Lindsborg, the youngest daughter of 5 children to Emil and Olga (Johnson) Nordin. Betty married William “Red” Chandler on June 27, 1947 and they lived in Lindsborg where they had 4 children. Betty held several jobs in Lindsborg the last of which was a cook for the Lindsborg High School, and helped with meals at the Lindsborg Senior Center. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, serving on different committees. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents, brothers and their spouses, Emory Nordin (Esther), LaVern Nordin (Nell), sister and spouse Annabell Smith (Donald), brother-in-law and spouse, Allison Chandler (Mildred) and son-in-law David Smith, and infant sister Christine Nordin. She is survived by her sons, James (Maggie) Chandler, Mark Chandler, daughters, Vickie Smith and Norma (Lynn) Fox, and grandchildren Nicole (Jason),Orr, Jill (Mark) Weber, Donald (Ashlee) Creswell, Leslie (Marc) Beers, Alicia Chandler, Bonnie(Joey) Henderson, JD (Alyssa) Fox, 12 great grandchildren, 2 nieces and 1 nephew and many friends. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16, at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 17, at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Home or to Kindred Hospice. Memorials may be sent in care of Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
