Obituary of Carole Ann Rasmusson

Carole Ann Rasmusson, 75, of Lindsborg passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at her home. Carole was born December 19, 1944 in Fort Devens, MA to the late Douglas and the late Dorothy Waterhouse. She was the former wife of Jerry Rasmusson.
Carole was a graduate of the Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing in Bridgeport, CT. She worked at several hospitals as a Registered Nurse, including Via Christi in Wichita and Bridgeport Hospital where she was a head nurse. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
Carole grew up in Syracuse, NY and Stratford, CT. A resident of the Lindsborg area for over 40 years, she was an active member of various organizations, including TACOL, Meals on Wheels and Smoky Valley 4-H Club. She was also a supporter of the Lindsborg Swedish Folk Dancers.
Carole’s love for her family was boundless. She enjoyed caring for animals, gardening, traveling, skiing, swimming, and the beaches of Connecticut, North Carolina, Oregon and Florida. She was a passionate supporter of Lindsborg arts and culture, frequently volunteering at the Midsummer’s Festival and Svensk Hyllningsfest. She cheered for the Kansas Jayhawks.
She is survived by her daughters: Cynthia Dunham (John) of Lawrence, KS; and Rachel Rasmusson of Beaverton, OR; sons: Matthew Rasmusson (Amy) of Englewood, CO; and Erik Rasmusson (Holly) of Portland, OR; sister: Sandra Parkinson of Lawrence, KS; niece: Sarah Forshee; nephew: Andrew Parkinson; as well as grandchildren: Tricia (Michael), Samuel, Ava, Ryan, Abigail, Axel, and Annika; and her great-granddaughters.
Carole is preceded in death by her parents.
Cremation has been chosen. Inurnment services for Carole A. Rasmusson, 75, of Lindsborg, who passed away March 20, 2020 will be held at Smoky Hill Cemetery, 7:30 p.m., Friday September 11, 2020. There will be visitation and fellowship from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Swensson Park on Main Street, Lindsborg. A Celebration of Carole's Life service will follow visitation from 11:30 until 12:00 p.m. The family requests those in attendance of either service, wear casual attire and observe social distancing and mask wearing guidelines.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, Bethany Home, or to the Lindsborg Community Hospital.
