Dear Betty and Family: we are so sorry to hear of Bruce's passing. You are in our thoughts and prayers. I found some comfort in the following writing, and hope you will also. Vicki
ALL IS WELL***
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.

Betty and family
My condolences in the passing of Bruce. He and I were classmates of the class of 1965 Colby High School. He and I would go hunting together at times growing up and know that he was a very caring man and will be missed by many. Bummed with him in high school and always had fun together. But after high school he and I went separate ways and finally learned that since I lived in McPherson and he lived in Fremont on the farm that once in awhile we did see one another. He will be missed.

Betty,
I am sending you and your family members my sympathy, thoughts, and prayers during this time of need. I know Bruce struggled with cancer for ten years. Heaven only knows what both he and you experienced during that time. My dad battled cancer for three years before he passed, and I know what he and my mom went through. So I have at least a glimpse of what you went through. But through it all, Bruce’s attitude and your attitude were always so positive and uplifting. It was truly inspirational.
You have always remained the same wonderful person from the time I knew you when we were doctoral students in the special education program at the University of Kansas, to all of the conversations and meetings that followed, and through the more recent years when you have worked for us as a special education professor at
Emporia State University.
I send my support, and everyone from Emporia State University sends their support, too,
Jerry Liss

Betty, Darin, Kara. and Megan, our hearts are breaking for you with Bruce's passing. He was a wonderful man, always so happy and kind. Our families have had many special times together. I will always remember Bruce's happy whistle. He sounded just like a bird whistling! Another great memory was Teacher of the Year outings with Bruce at the wheel and a van full of kids with all of us hanging on for dear life! And then the time Bruce and Tom left Darin at the Louisville Bat Factory and didn't,t even notice that they had left him until Betty and I saw he was missing! But with Bruce there was never stress or an emergency. He took life slow and easy. What a fun man to share experiences with. Bruce was a man of integrity with a slow, sweet smile. What a legacy he has left for his family. Kara, I have no doubt that he will be with you as you walk down the isle to marry your beloved Joe. Your daddy was so happy for you. He loved his kids and his sweet wife Betty. We are all better people for having known Bruce Amos. God bless your family.
We love you,
Glenda and Tom
