Obituary of Carl Oscar Isaacson

Carl Oscar Isaacson, 66, of Lindsborg, passed away May 9, 2016. He was born January 9, 1950, the son of Oscar and Ruth (Sembach) Isaacson in Chicago, IL. On June 6, 1992, he was united in marriage to Kristine Hackman in Oakdale, MN. Carl was ordained as a Lutheran minister in 1975. He served congregations in Charleston, SC, Georgetown, SC, Memphis, TN, and Chicago, IL. He also served as a covenant pastor at Marion Hill Lutheran Church starting in 2011. Carl graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL in 1971. He received a Masters of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in 1975. He later went back to school, earning a Master of Arts degree in Communications from Memphis State University (now known as the University of Memphis) in 1988. He received his PhD in Theatre History in 1996 from the University of Minnesota. Carl and Kristine moved to Lindsborg in 2004 when Carl accepted a job teaching in the department of English, Communication, and Theatre at Bethany College. He was able to complete his final semester of teaching in the spring of 2016 shortly before his death. Carl also taught at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and Sterling College in Sterling, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents. Carl is survived by his wife, Kristine of Lindsborg, son, Jonathan Isaacson (Chiemi) of Tokyo, Japan, daughter, Emily Isaacson (William Bradley) of Tiffin, OH, and sister, Ellen Isaacson of Chicago, IL. Visitation will be Friday, May 13, from 4-7pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, May 14, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg.
