Alfred G. Eklund, 97, of Lindsborg, died August 2, 2010. Mr. Eklund was born February 8, 1913, the son of Gustaf and Ellen (Carlson) Eklund, in Scranton, Kansas. He was a Lindsborg resident since 1994, moving from McPherson. He was an auto parts salesman. Alfred was an active member of Covenant Churches in both Lindsborg and McPherson, as well as Kiwanis Club, and Ham Radio Club. On August 20, 1937, he married Myrtle Fager, she passed away March 16, 1985. On May 10, 1986, he married Marion (Larson) Nelson at McPherson, Kansas, she survives. He was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard and Lawrence, and step-son, Mark Nelson. Survivors include wife, Marion of the home, son, Charles and wife Caroline Eklund of Colorado Springs, CO, step-daughter, Janelle and husband Russell Schmalz of North Carolina, sister, Doris Fager of Topeka, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Evangelical Covenant Church, Lindsborg, KS. Burial will be held at Scranton Cemetery, Scranton, KS. Memorials may be designated for the Evangelical Covenant Church, Lindsborg, or KICY Alaskan Covenant Radio in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N Washington Street P. O. Box 386 Lindsborg, KS. Visitation will be from 4-7p.m. with family present from 6-7p.m. Thursday at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. Online condolences at www.christiansfuneralhome.com.
