Chuck: I just found out that your dad had passed away this summer. I am sorry to hear of his passing. Your mom and dad were among my parent's best friends. Thanks for all the nice comments about my dad. It was especially to read the comments about the people he helped get amateur radio licenses. That was one of his passions and he gave help to many people. I am one of those and still have call sign WA0ALR.
I'm so sorry to hear of Al's passing. He helped me get my ham radio license in 1970 and it's a hobby I still enjoy. I always considered him to be a great friend even though I hadn't seen him for many years.
Chuck - I am saddened to learn of the death of your Dad. Your family values and continued strong respect and love for your Dad have been an inspiration to all of us. We were sorry to hear of Al's passing and we send our sympathy to the family. We were pleased that we were able to visit him and Marion several times in recent years. We have fond memories!
Al was the first relative in USA with Swedish roots, who I found in 1999 after my Genealogy researches. Since then he has given me important and valuable information about relatives in USA. I am very thankful for this.
As mentioned above, Al Eklund was indeed generous with his time with young people. He proctored my tests for amateur radio licenses back in the 1950's. I'm very glad I knew him.
Al helped me get started in Ham Radio when I was in High School. It led to a career in electronics and computers that has served me and my family well. I will always remember him for his help. Glenn Wilmoth W0WWO
