Charles mother Marie (Mae) and my grandmother Genevieve Runquist Elving were sisters. Every summer my family would travel to Missouri and Kansas to visit the relatives and often spent time with Charles and Inez and I remember their daughter Charla. Charles oversaw the grain elevators as I remember and for an Eastern girl they seemed very big. My father was Genevieve's son Homer and he died in 1971 and my mother Catherine just died after a wonderful life, Jan 1st at age 98. My sister and brother are also very sorry to hear of Charles death. We always kept up on the family via the carefully penned Christmas letter from Inez and Charles did a pretty good job too! Charles was the last relative we had in Lindsborg but thanks to Charles we met Borje who was able to visit us twice in California and we hope to travel to Sweden to visit there. Judy Elving Bethe

Our relation started with Charlie doing genealogical research. He found my aunt Gerd and father Nils. Charlie visited Sweden 4 times as far as I know. 1. With Milton Bengtsson 2. With Inez, Edgar and Marie 3. With Inez, Charla, Chris, Cathi 4. With Inez, Ivan Bengtsson +wife My role was a bit interpreter and guide. In 1979(Apr-Sept) I was invited to stay with fam. Johnson and also work some for Farmer State Bank and Coop. I was treated as a son and Charlie was my extra father, fishingpartner, later speakingpartner and a very good friend. In 2004 me and my son visited Lindsborg again for some golf and memories. My wife Petra and I have 2 daughters (Sofie and Malin)and 1 son Billy Charles of course named after Charles Johnson because he was such a great person. TACK och FARVĂ„L!
