Dr. Charles Richard "Chuck" Englund died Tuesday, April 17, 2012. He was 76.
Chuck was born February 20, 1936, in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of Fred W. and Irene (Rosenquist) Englund.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Elizabeth Kay.
Survivors include his wife Joyce, of the home; daughters: Katherine Murphy (Dan) of Fort Collins, CO., Karoline Carr (Dan) of Lindsborg, and Kirsten Vassalli (Gregg) of Wichita; seven grandchildren: Tabetha Carr, William Carr (fiancé Tonia), Scott Murphy, Mark Murphy (Kaleigh), Sally Murphy, Jacquelyn Ward (Kyle), and Beau Dewbre; and four great-grandchildren: Lacy, Nathan, Jocelyn, and Natalie; two sisters: Lois Hirsch (Bob) and Karen Launsby; plus a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Englund was retired as a chemistry professor after a career of more than 50 years. He taught at Bethany College for more than 40 years.
Englund also served as a lay pastor at Peace Lutheran Church in New Cambria for more than 35 years.
He had a passion for gardening and planted several hundred flowers each year. Other hobbies included reading, daily word puzzles, cars, and coffee time.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, the American Chemical Society, and Retired Church Workers.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am Monday at Messiah Lutheran Church, Lindsborg. Private family burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.
Memorials may be designated for the Dr. Chuck Englund Scholarship Fund in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N Washington PO Box 386 Lindsborg, Kansas 67456.
