Obituary of David Brungardt

David Allen Brungardt was born December 9, 1957, in Hays, Kansas, to Robert F. and Florence P. (Winget) Brungardt. He passed away October 20, 2011, in Dallas Texas at the age of 53. David lived in several communities as he was growing up, graduating in 1975 from Ness City High School. Following high school, David attended classes at Fort Hays State University and later at Mid-American Nazarene College, where he earned both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree. David was a member of the police departments in Great Bend, Paola, and Olathe, and served as Chief of Police in Port Lavaca, Wylie, and Flower Mound Texas. He also worked as a law enforcement educator. David is survived by two sons, Benjamin of Portland, Oregon, and Matthew and wife, Lindsay, of Gardner, Kansas, his mother, Florence "Peggy" Brungardt of Russell, brothers, Mike Brungardt of San Francisco, and Dan Brungardt and wife Beverly of Great Bend, sisters, Linda Saucedo and husband Jesse of Great Bend, and Patty Meagher and husband Tom of Hays, and numerous nieces and nephews. Davidwas preceded in death by his father, Robert Brungardt. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10am Monday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, Gorham, KS with burial following at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
