Obituary of David Stein

David Eric Stein, 56, of Gypsum, passed away at his home September 28, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 2, 1955 in Salina, the son of Leonard G. and Vera Irene (Wiltse) Stein. David graduated from Southeast of Saline high school and attended Kansas State University. He married Denise Blomquist on September 4, 1977 at Assaria Lutheran Church. He was a 4th generation farmer, living almost his entire life on the original Stein farmstead. His farming operation included cattle and a variety of crops. He loved supporting Southeast of Saline events and activities. He was always there to encourage his girls at 4-H events and sheep shows, as well as at SES and Bethany College ballgames. David was an active member of the Assaria Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, Christian Stein, and a brother-in-law, Kevin Blomquist. David is survived by his wife, Denise of the home, daughters, Emily Lind and husband Eric of McPherson, Erica Stein of Great Bend, Elissa Stein of Gypsum, parents, Leonard and Irene Stein of Salina, sister, Teresa Wilson and husband Mark of Abilene, mother-in-law, Doris Blomquist of Assaria, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tim and Lori Penner of Clay Center, sister-in-law, Stacy Blomquist of Pineville, LA and nine nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 pm with family present from 6-7 pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Monday at Assaria Lutheran Church with burial following at Gypsum Valley Cemetery, Gypsum.
