Obituary of Lynda Sue Anderson

Lynda Sue Anderson, 66, of Smolan passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at her home, surrounded by family. She was born Feb. 11, 1955 in Salina to Leo E. & JoAnn (Lindgeren) Anderson. Lynda was a 1973 graduate of Lindsborg High School. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Bethany College in 1977. Her passion for sports and profound dislike of mathematics led her to a career in athletics. She was a Physical Education teacher in the Washington School District, Washington, Ks. for 30 years and coached volleyball and basketball in the high school . During that time, her volleyball team won the Kansas State 2A Title twice and was runner up once. In 1983, she was selected as the 2A Kansas Sate High School Coach of the Year. Lynda also served as a K.S.H.S.A.A. official for volleyball and basketball for many years. In 2009, she was honored by Bethany College to be added to the list of Alumni Coaches of the Year. The next year, she retired from teaching, returned to the house where she grew up and started her "dream job" at Lowes. Wherever Lynda worked, she became part of another family. Her infectiously happy nature drew lifelong friends to her. Her Lowes family brought her her 11 year patch shortly before she departed for her Eternal Home. Lynda was a lifetime member of Salemsborg Lutheran Church where she has been called to rest. She is survived by her brother: Doug Anderson (Mary Beth) of Lindsborg, KS; her sisters: Jane MacDonald (Patrick) of Smolan, KS, and Sonja Marston (Richard) of Roxbury, KS; aunt: Jeanette Waage of Lindsborg, KS; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 7 from 5-7PM at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS. The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8 at Salemsborg Lutheran Church, 3831 W Salemsborg Rd, Smolan, KS with Pastor Ben Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in Salemsborg Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salemsborg Lutheran Church, the Tammy Walker Cancer Center, or Hospice of Salina.
