Leslie Eugene “Gene” Van Amburg, 86, of Lindsborg, KS passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, NE. Gene was born September 13, 1934 in Hunter, KS to the late Adam Leslie and Lula Katherine (McNall) Van Amburg. Gene graduated from Hunter High School and served in the National Guard. He married Helen Lavonne Young on May 22, 1955 at Beloit, KS. He is survived by his wife: Helen, of the home; daughters: Karen Heller of Wichita, KS, and Carol Sommers (Allon) of Manhattan, KS, brothers: Gerald Van Amburg (Janet) of Moorhead, MN, and Larry Van Amburg (Lena) of Lindsborg, KS; as well as 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and his extended family. Gene is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 19 from 5-7PM at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS. A graveside service will be held 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 20 at Round Springs Cemetery, Hunter, KS with Phillip Dryden officiating. The family will be leaving from the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kearney Regional Medical Center. Memorials may be sent in care of Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
