Lesa, I am so sorry for your loss. My husband Bill and I enjoyed drinks and hospitality with you on your new roof deck last summer during my artist residency. You were so sweet to let us invade your peaceful evening, but we had no choice... Michael dragged us there after intercepting us on a night stroll... My favorite memory of Merle is when he was awarded the 1st place for his Key Lime Pie in the Red Barn Studio pie contest. It was just perfect! I ran into Merle at the Peacock the day after the Pie party... while he was waiting for his order. I congratulated him and asked if he would consider sharing his recipe, since it was simply perfect! He said, "sure, do you have something to write on?" I grabbed a scrap of paper and jotted down the recipe. As you know, it made it's way into my pie cookbook and I will cherish it always. Merle was a stellar human being and I was proud to call him a friend. Please take care and I hope to see you this July. I will be back for another residency. God bless you and your family. I worked with Merle at EnergySolutions in Oak Ridge, he was very knowledgeable and willing to share that knowledge with the radiation safety techs in the group, but more than that he was a great person and good friend. Me and Merle had a lot of laughs at work and at the company golf tournaments. He will be missed by all that knew and worked with him.
Prayers,
Scott Lawson

Mrs. Larson and Family, my wife and I purchased your old home in Oak Ridge in 2014. We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Larson a few times during the buying/selling process. From the few conversations we shared, it was very apparent that he cherished his family. Knowing that I had a two-year-old daughter (now eight) at the time, he declared your old home to be the perfect place to raise daughters; he was right. Whenever he spoke of you all, he always had a big smile on his face and a light shining in his eyes. I am very sorry for the loss of your husband and father. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.
