Obituary of Melanie C Ryding

Melanie C. Ryding, 82, of Lindsborg, passed away July 3, 2020 at Bethany Home in Lindsborg. She was born February 5, 1938 in Salina, KS to Amos and Almeda (Peterson) Ryding. She grew up on the family farm near Falun. She fondly remembered a heart fashioned out of a silver dollar, for a necklace, made for her, by a German prisoner of war. She enjoyed telling the story to family members.
Melanie was a graduated of Lindsborg High School, Brown Mackie, Wichita State University, and Tulsa University. She was a speech therapist and worked at a number of venues across the state of Kansas.
She was a member of the Salemsborg Lutheran Church WELCA, Sandzen Art Gallery, Raymer Society, and the Lindsborg Hospital Auxiliary. Salemsborg Lutheran Church was the center of her social and spiritual life.
Melanie was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her brother: Dr. Paul Ryding (Shari), of Wichita, KS; sister: Darlene Magnuson (John), of Lindsborg; one nephew, 4 nieces, 3 great nephews, and 7 great nieces. She adored her nieces and nephews, and their children.
Visitation will be at Crick-Christians Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm, Monday, July 6.
A private family graveside service will be held at Salemsborg Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Salemsborg Lutheran Church, the Salemsborg Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, or to Bethany Home. Memorials may be sent in care of Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
