Obituary of Blanche L. Spilman
Blanche Louise Hawkinson-Spilman, 88, of Lindsborg passed away Friday, November 15, 2019 at Riverview Estates, Marquette. Blanche was born February 7, 1931 in Lindsborg, KS, the tenth child of the late Harry and Nellie (Forney) Andrews, who died 18 days apart.
Blanche was the current wife of Harold Montgomery. She was married to Warren Hawkinson, for 43 years, and Marshall Spilman, for 20 years. Blanche was married her entire life after the age of 16. Blanche was a member of Freemont Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary in McPherson. She was a homemaker and mother, worked for a while as a school bus driver and a wall paper hanger. She was the personal assistant to Margaret Greenough, for 35 years.
She is survived by her husband: Harold Montgomery; daughters: Marlene Brazell (Bob) of McPherson, KS, and Linda McBurney(Terry) of Lindsborg, KS;son: Daniel Hawkinson (Katherine), of Lindsborg; grandchildren: Jeremy, Denny, Andy, Marshall, Sarah, and Shea; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous step children, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Blanche is preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Warren and Marshall; son: William Hawkinson; brothers: Oren, Glen, Alvin, George, and Earl Andrews; and sisters: Edna Axelson, Evelyn Claypool, Doris, Hall, and May Hulse.
Visitation will be Monday, November 18 from 5pm-7pm at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 19 at New Gottland Lutheran Church, McPherson, KS with Pastor Laura Smith officiating. Burial will follow at New Gottland Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association for dementia related illness. Memorials may be sent in care of Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
