Obituary of Earlene Marston
Kathryn “Earlene” Marston, 90, of McPherson died Sunday, May 19, 2019 at The Cedars Nursing Home in McPherson. Earlene was born October 26, 1928 at home northwest of Roxbury, KS to Earl and Grace (Groves) Lehman. After graduating high school she married Carrol Marston on May 18, 1947 in Roxbury, Kansas.
Earlene spent her adult life as a loving wife and mother. She helped Carrol on the farm, and was employed for several years as a school bus driver. Earlene’s church membership was at the Roxbury United Parish, where she served as a lay minister and organist. She was also involved in many of the church’s programs, including Sunday School and Bible School. Earlene enjoyed painting, sewing, and playing cards with friends.
She is survived by her sons: Clinton M. Marston of Hesston, KS, and Richard L. Marston (Sonja) of Roxbury, KS; daughter: Kathryn Reissig (Bob) of McPherson, KS; sister: Maxine Clark of Salina, KS; as well as grandchildren: Amanda Dueck (Rob), Sarah Tolessa (Maranata), Jacob Marston (Jamie), Sam Marston (Kimzey), Nicole Robinson (J.R.), Marcus Gent, Shawn Reissig (Carolyn), and Jay Reissig (Jill); great grandchildren: Abe, Hattie, Luka, Hap, Anderson, Pauline, Evie, Hannah, Jerrihaun, Khedive, Michael, Austin, William, Chanda, and Collin; and great great grandchildren: Dane, MaKynna, Odin, Ruger, Rylie, Charleigh, and Payton (Tessa). She constantly talked about all the kids who “stayed” with her. Earlene prided herself in mentoring any child who needed her, regardless of blood relation or not.
Earlene is preceded in death by her parents: Earl and Grace; husband: Carrol; brother: Jerry Lehman; and daughter-in-law: Judy Marston.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 26 from 5pm-7pm at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm on Tuesday, May 28 at Roxbury United Parish, 110 W South, Roxbury, KS. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery.
