Obituary of Phyllis F. Cumbo

Phyllis F. Cumbo, 96, of Lindsborg passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Riverview Estates, Marquette.  Phyllis was born July 12, 1922 in Geneseo, KS to the late Clark Corless and Viola Esther Smith. 

 

Phyllis was the widow of Charles W. Cumbo.  She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.  Phyllis founded the Lindsborg Community Hospital Auxiliary along with Faye Molander in 1969.  She was a homemaker.  She loved being a mother and grandmother.  Phyllis’ family was the light of her life.  She will be remembered as a strong and feisty woman, who believed wholeheartedly in her Lord Jesus Christ.

 

She is survived by her son: Clark Cumbo of Lindsborg; brother: Loris-Jean Smith; grandson: C. Joseph Cumbo (Christine); granddaughter: Sarah Charlene Kamler (Jeff); and great grandchildren, Ilias Cumbo, Riley Kamler, and Charlie Kamler.

 

Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Charles; daughter: Penny Charlene Cumbo; sister: Ethel Marie Keller; and her longtime friend and companion Carl F. Carlson.

 

Cremation has been chosen.  Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 13 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg.

 

A inurnment and committal service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Jim Strasen, officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lindsborg Community Hospital Auxiliary.  Memorials may be sent in care of Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
