Obituary of Robert E. "Bob" Sommerfeld

Robert E. “Bob” Sommerfeld, 81, of Lindsborg died Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Bethany Home.  Bob was born February 23, 1937 in Goessel, KS to the late Lester and Katherina (Janzen) Sommerfeld.  He married Katherine “Kathy”  Jost on July 10, 1959 at Hillsboro, KS. 

Bob was a veteran of the United States Navy.  He worked as a maintenance man.  Bob was a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters, and enjoyed Ham radios.  He will be remembered for his love of life on the river, hunting, fishing, camping, and lapidary. Bob also attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Salina.

He is survived by his wife: Katherine “Kathy”, of Lindsborg; sons: David (Connie) Sommerfeld of Assaria, KS, and Mark Sommerfeld of Brookville, KS brother: Ron Sommerfeld of Canton, KS; and grandchildren Natasha (Alex) Lujan, of Waco, TX, Jessic (Cody) Barta, of Ellsworth, KS, and Austin Sommerfeld, of Brookville, KS; as well as 8 great grandchildren.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, and sister Melvia Eberle.

Cremation has been chosen.  A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 14 at First Church Of The Nazarene, in Salina, with Rev. Jon Filipi officiating.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg prior to the memorial at 10:00 a.m.
