Obituary of James G. Oborg

James G. “Jim” Oborg, 90, of Lindsborg, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Bethany Home.  Jim was born December 27, 1927 in Smolan, KS, to the late Godfrey and Myrtle (Pihl) Oborg. 

 

Jim was a graduated of Smolan High School.  He married Ruth Johnson on August 25, 1951. He lived in the Smolan and Lindsborg area all his life.  Jim belonged to Salemsborg Lutheran Church. He was a lifelong farmer and stockman, and he worked at several side jobs over the years.  Jim enjoyed time as a 4-H leader, and supported soil conservation efforts.  Jim was a veteran of the Army National Guard.

 

He is survived by his son: Craig (Tammy) Oborg of Lindsborg, KS daughter: Jodi (Tom) Auerbach of Van Alstyne, TX;  sister: Doris Perrill of Derby, KS; granddaughters: Jamie Oborg (Beau Wurtz), of Kansas City, MO, Jordan (Darous) Allton, of Kansas City, MO, and Cooper Auerbach, of McKinney, TX; as well as great granddaughters:   Makenzie Wurtz and Breckyn Allton.

 

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Ruth

 

Visitation will be Thursday, May 10 from 5-7PM at Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS.

 

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Friday, May 11 at Salemsborg Lutheran Church, Smolan, KS with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating.  Burial will follow at Salemsborg Lutheran Cemetery.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Salemsborg Lutheran Church or to Bethany Home. Memorials may be sent in care of Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
