Leland Bengtson, 92 of Lindsborg, Kansas passed away on February 27, 2018 at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas.

Leland Bengtson was born in Lindsborg, Kansas to Herman L. and Emma Mabel Bengtson on October 27, 1925.  He went to high school at Lindsborg Rural High School in Lindsborg, Kansas and graduated in the spring of 1943.  He went to study Agriculture at the Kansas State College in Manhattan, Kansas while serving in the Army’s ROTC and then returned to Lindsborg, Kansas area to begin his farming and ranching operations.  He enjoyed sports, bowling, playing card, family activities, traveling and following the sports programs at Kansas State University.  He was involved as a School Board Member - USD 400 in Lindsborg, Kansas; helped start the Rural Fire Department in the Lindsborg, Kansas area besides being a Director of the Farmers Home Association in McPherson County, Kansas; Advisory Director of Lindsborg State Bank and on the Boards of the Lindsborg Senior Center; Jonathan Club; Bethany Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the Lindsborg Golf Course.

Herman Leland Bengtson is survived by Dorothy Bengtson his wife of 67 years; his daughter, Debra Jelinek and her husband Marvin Jelinek from Mulvane, Kansas and his son, Jerry Bengtson from Olathe, Kansas.  Mr. Bengtson had five (5) grandchildren; Jason Jelinek and his wife Laura from Mulvane, Kansas; Justin Jelinek and his wife Elizabeth from Mulvane; Lindsay Billinger and her husband Shawn Billinger from DeSoto, Kansas; Brooklyn Woolard and her husband Jacob Woolard from Olathe, Kansas and Mica Bengtson from Lenexa, Kansas.  Mr. Bengtson has eight (8) great-grandchildren; Anthony Jelinek, Jacob Jelinek, Ella Jelinek and Owen Jelinek all of Mulvane, Kansas and Braelyn Billinger, Brynna Billinger, Brant Billinger and Brooks Billinger all of DeSoto, Kansas.

He is survived by his sister, Betty Nelson from Topeka, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother; Herman L. and Emma Mabel Bengtson; his sister Marilyn Lou Bengtson.

Visitation will be held at Christians Funeral Home on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. 

Burial will be at Elwood Cemetery in Lindsborg, Kansas.  Funeral services will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 am, with Reverend Loren Mai officiating
