John hired me into the Marley Cooling Tower Family in 1978. He taught me Material Science and Water Chemistry. He was my mentor throughout my career, even after his retirement in December, 1986.
John started at Marley in the early 1950's, 1952 I believe, and was a well respected manager and scientist in the cooling tower industry.
John was a very kind man and took good care of a number of young engineers through the years.
I think I speak for many here in Kansas City in saying, "John was one of the Great Ones!"

John hired me in 1981 and was my boss until he retired in the late 80’s.
After I sent in my resume, John was in Denver for a meeting and I met him there for a first interview. I didn’t even know what a cooling tower was, and the questions I asked must have seemed silly to John.
He actually went out on a limb to hire me since an additional position needed to be created.
John was always a gracious and professional mentor to me, and he supported and encouraged my career development.
He was a highly respected “subject expert” in his field. I often find myself thinking “what would John do” in my daily job activity.
I value both his influence in my life and his legacy here at Marley.
