Obituary of Judy Heglund

Judy Heglund, Assaria, passed away at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas on December 26th after a long battle from the affects of a stroke December of 2007. Judy was the first of 4 children born to Frank and Thelma Brightbill. Judy was born on May 18, 1939 at St. John’s in Salina, KS. She attended public schools in the Salina area and graduated from Salina Central in 1957. She was an Assaria resident since 1965 where she was a homemaker. Judy married Jim Heglund on February 22, 1959. This union was blessed with two children; Christy and Michelle. Judy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother for the rest of her life on the family farm outside Assaria. She was a member of Assaria Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mildred and Julius Heglund, and sister-in-law Elaine Heglund. Survivors include husband, Jim Heglund of Assaria; two daughters, Christy (Boyd) Rodeman, Newton and Michelle (Dennis) Claussen, Valley Center; 8 grandchildren: Callie, Caleb, Camille, Carlie, Chloe, and Caris Claussen, and Simon and Lydia Rodeman. Judy will be missed for her beautiful smile, tenderness, kindness, and positive attitude she displayed to others throughout her entire life. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 30th from 4-7p.m at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. The funeral service will be Thursday, December 31, at 11:00 a.m., Assaria Lutheran Church, Assaria.
