Carl Don Lander was born in Lindsborg, Kansas on July 29, 1917 to Carl and Lillian Lander. He is proceeded in death by his parents Carl and Lillian(Carlson) as well as a sister Marilyn, his wife Eunice (Danielson) his daughter Linda Sue and his granddaughter Andrea Lander. Don attended elementary through high school in Lindsborg. After high school Don attended Colorado A&M (now CSU) for a year before enrolling in a program to obtain his Aircraft and Power Plant certification. During World War II Don worked in Wichita, Kansas for Cessna. Don married Eunice Danielson on May 2, 1942. In 1946 he and his family relocated to Aurora, Colorado where he worked at Continental Airlines as a line mechanic until he retired in 1979. When Eunice died in April 2000 Don moved back to Lindsborg and set up his residence in one of the Bethany cottages where he resided until his death. Don enjoyed the outdoors and in his younger days was an avid elk hunter. He was also very active as a scoutmaster in Troop 71 in Aurora, Colorado and was awarded the Silver Beaver medal for his service to the Boy Scouts of America. Don and Eunice had four children Donna (Jack)Wright of Colbran, Colorado, Stephen (Ruth) Lander of Columbus, Ohio, Linda Sue (deceased 2001), Marshall (Judy) of Tolland, Massachusetts. He was also blessed with 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Don was baptized and confirmed in Messiah Lutheran Church in Lindsborg. He enjoyed his last decade in Lindsborg especially with friends at the cottages, home and the senior center where is went almost every day for his noon meal. Don was proud to be an American and made sure you knew that. He was a master mechanic and could fix anything. He was an electrician and plumber. He was amazing. Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. Friday, November 26, 2010 at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. A Funeral Service celebrating Don's life will be held at 10:00a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Lindsborg. Private family burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.
