Obituary of Mary Butcher

Mary Waneta Butcher, 99, passed away on November 3, 2010. She was born November 1, 1911, in Tonganoxie, KS, to B. Oren & Nellie Dollie Butcher. Waneta served as receptionist and office manager for groups of physicians and dentists in the Kansas City area, retiring at the age of 75. She was a member of Roanoke Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, MO, was active in the American Business Women's Association, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved to take road trips by car and in her younger years drove her father on business across the country. She continued to love to drive, especially new cars with lots of bells and whistles. She moved to the Bethany Home Cottages, Lindsborg in 1997, and to Bethany Home in 2002. After her move to Lindsborg, she was thrilled to be able to ride on a new combine during wheat harvest. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert O. Butcher. She is survived by a sister, Amanda Peterson, Bethany Home, Lindsborg, and nieces and nephews: Judy Burch, Lindsborg; Carol Blackman, Centennial, CO; Warren Peterson, Overland Park; Jim Butcher, Brandon, FL; and Debbie Sharp, Lebanon, MO. A memorial service will be held at Bethany Home on Monday, November 8, 2010 at 10:00 am. A private inurnment at the Hubble Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie will follow the service.
