Wendall Dean "Silver" Everhart died Monday, August 9, 2010. Wendall was born August 20, 1922, in rural Gypsum, Kansas, the son of Lloyd and Elsie Everhart. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Verlin, Lyle, and Merl. After graduating from Gypsum High School in 1940, he attended Bethany College before serving his country in the United States Army during World War II. On September 23, 1943, he married Betty Jane Killfoil of Lindsborg, an together they raised two sons, Scott and Shannon. Silver started a 30 year career in 1955 as an insurance agent with Farmers Mutuals which later became known as American Family Insurance. Remaining active upon his retirement in 1986, he enjoyed bowling, golf, and rarely missed a Bethany College football game. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and many other local service clubs. Silver was well known for being the 'tall' stilt walking clown in Lindsborg's Hyllningsfest parade. He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home, sons, Scott of Cedaredge, CO, Shannon and wife Joy of Lindsborg, sisters, Ilene and husband Jack of Falmouth, Massachusetts, Wanda and husband Bill Grosser of Salina, three grandchildren, Tori Everhart of Denver, CO, Shana Everhart of Fort Bragg, CA, and David and wife Kristin of Shawnee, Kansas, and two great grandchildren, Dylan and Jack Everhart. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lindsborg, KS. Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg, KS. Memorials may be designated for Bethany Home, Lindsborg Community Hospital, or Trinity United Methodist Church in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N Washington Street P. O. Box 386 Lindsborg, KS. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm with family present from 6-7pm Thursday at Christians Funeral Home. Online condolences at www.christiansfuneralhome.com.
