Pauline E. Nelson, 90, of Lindsborg, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015.
She was born November 27, 1924 on a farm west of Marquette, the sixth child of Marwitz and Katie Smith Johnson. She had 4 sisters: Irene Johnson, Marie Gomer, Dara Gile, and Velma Nelson; 3 brothers: Archie Johnson, Richard Johnson, and Leslie Johnson. They all preceded her in death. When she was 11 her mother passed away. She began working as a nanny outside the home and also had more responsibility at home.
October 10, 1955 she married Bill Nelson and lived on a farm near Falun. While on the farm she kept busy selling eggs and milk. They moved to what was known as the "Axle Peterson Place" by the river near Lindsborg and eventually to the city of Lindsborg where Bill worked for the city. He passed away November 21, 1993.
Pauline helped with Sunday school and cared for the children during Bible class.
She was a nanny to six Nelson children: Jackie, Anita, Harold, LeRoy, Richard, and Sally.
She leaves behind many loved ones including a son, Joshua Nelson and Anita, Richard and Sally.
Her passion for life was caring for children.
Visitation will be Monday, February 9, from 5-7pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, February 10, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg, with burial following at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.
Memorials may be designated for Bethany Lutheran Church in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N. Washington, PO Box 386, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
