Obituary of Marguerite "Maggie" Davis

Marguerite "Maggie" S. Davis, 97, passed away January 19, 2015 at Riverview Estates Marquette, Kansas. She was born January 5, 1917 in Parsons, Kansas to George and Lillian Erdman Startz. She grew up in Parsons where she graduated high school in 1935 and Parsons Junior College in 1937. While attending college she was a member of the drum and bugle corp. She began working in the city clerk's office in Parsons prior to her appointment as the first female city auditor in 1943. On June 19, 1948 she married Bert G Davis in Kansas City, KS. During World War II she was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and owned her own airplane. She was a former member of Business and Professional Women's Club and a life member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. As her husband was assigned in various locations in Kansas she readily found employment in a variety of jobs. In the 70's Bert and Maggie moved to Marquette where she was employed at Bethany College in Lindsborg. Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Bert, and brothers: Charles, William, and Robert. She is survived by several nieces, a nephew, and many friends. A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Christians Funeral Home, 103 N Washington, Lindsborg, Kansas.
