Beverly Ann Foote Barbo, passed away on September 8, 2014 at, Riverview Estates in Marquette, Kansas. She was born on May 9, 1933 in Isanti County, Minnesota, the daughter of Bennett and Irene Foote. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bennett Jr.; her husband David; son Timothy and his life-partner, Tom Schwarz. Beverly graduated from Cambridge (MN) High school in 1951. She held many different positions and jobs as Dave's work took them to many places, finally settling in Lindsborg, Kansas where they opened Barbo Printing. She graduated from Bethany College in 1985, at the age of 52, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education. Following the discovery that her son Tim had AIDS she spent the next few years sharing her experiences to increase awareness of the suffering of those with AIDS and misconceptions surrounding sexual orientation. Her book, "The Walking Wounded", helped heal many broken families. In 1996 Beverly was given the Gold Award of Merit for Outstanding Achievement from Bethany College. Beverly has been active in many congregations, women's organizations and support groups. She also participated in music, art and theatre and was a member of Elim Lutheran Church in Marquette. Beverly is survived by a daughter, Pamela Yoder (Keith) of Golden, Colorado and a son, Mical Barbo (Sherri) of Lansing, KS. Other suriving family members are her sister Suzanne Anderson of Cambridge, MN; brother Shannon Foote (Patricia) of Rush City, MN; grandchildren; Sean Carlson of Littleton, CO; Colleen Meheen (Sy) of Dillon, CO; Joshua Barbo (Julie) of Fenton, MO and Jordan Barbo of Melbourne, Australia; great-grandchildren Jaxon and Ryann Carlson. A memorial service will be held at Elim Lutheran Church in Marquette, KS on Saturday, September 20th, 2014 at 11:00am.
