Veda Mae Pihl, 105, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2014. She was born December 14, 1908, on a farm home near Assaria to James and Margaret (Kuhns) Young. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Merle Young, sister, Ireta Swenson, husband, Wallace J. Pihl, and daughter, Vera Jo Eklund.
She married Wallace August 14, 1929, and they made their home on a farm near Smolan where they lived all their married lives of 73 years.
Veda was a proud farmer's wife, and a loving mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of the Salemsborg Lutheran Church where she served many years on the Altar Guild and held many offices in the Lutheran Church Women's Organization and helped organize Smoky View 4-H club.
She is survived by her two sons, Donald (Betty) and LeRoy (Coleen), all of Falun; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:00 am Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Salemsborg Lutheran Church, with visitation from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, September 10, at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. Memorials may be given to the Salemsborg Cemetery Fund in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N. Washington, PO Box 386, Lindsborg, KS 67456.
