Aloma Lucille Carlson, 92, of Lindsborg, passed away May 30, 2014. She was born December 25, 1921 to Carl Timothy and Belle Beatrice Woodhams Blake in Clay County, Kansas. She attended the West Exeter School in Clay County and graduated from the Clay County Community High School in 1940, Clay Center, Kansas. After graduation she attended Brown-Mackie School of Business, Salina Kansas. Aloma worked for Montgomery Ward in Kansas City, the U.S. Government in Washington D.C., and Brown McDonald of Clay Center, Kansas. She married Merle D. Carlson September 6, 1944 at her parents home in Clay County, Kansas. After their marriage they moved to Wakefield where she worked for the Farmers State Bank. Merle and Aloma moved to a farm West of Wakefield in 1950. They farmed and ran a dairy. Aloma helped milk the cows and also helped with the farm work. In 1962 they moved with their family to Lindsborg, Kansas. She worked for the Registrar's office at Bethany College for 16 years. Merle and Aloma bought Boogaarts and it became Merle's market where they both worked for many years. In 1995 they decided to "finally" retire. She continued to work part-time for Anderson Butik in Lindsborg. Merle and Aloma enjoyed many bus tours over the United States. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. Aloma was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Wilbur Blake, and husband, Merle Carlson. Aloma is survived by daughters: Connice (Dan) Olsen of Salina, Coleen (Michael) Ball of Hillsboro, grandchildren: Tim (fiancée, Mariah) Olsen of Wichita, David (Summer) Olsen of Lindsborg, and Shane (Elizabeth) Ball of North Newton; two great-granddaughters, Regan and Shklar Olsen of Salina; brother, Maynard Blake of Clay Center, and sister, Dorothy (Bill) Stewart of Oregon. Visitation will be held Monday, June 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. Burial will be Tuesday, June 3, at 10:00 a.m., at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg, with a Memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lindsborg.
