Obituary of Richard Linder

Richard Lee (Dick) Linder, 74, passed away May 12, at home in Marquette. He was born in Salina, Kansas, January 27, 1940 to Orel A. and Minnie I. (Bickel) Linder.
The family moved to the Lindsborg area in 1954 and Dick graduated from Lindsborg Rural High School in 1959. During his high school days Dick participated in sports and played tackle on the high school football team. Immediately after high school he attended Kansas City Bible College in Kansas City, Kansas. Upon returning to Lindsborg, Dick worked at the Farmer's Union Elevator. From 1962 to 1968 Dick was in the National Guard unit in Salina and spent 6 months on active duty in 1962 at Fort Ord, California.
Returning to Lindsborg he served as a member of the Reserve Police Force in Lindsborg. For a number of years Dick was a disc jockey for the McPherson Radio Station KNEX-AM. Later he drove a school bus for Lindsborg USD #400.
He enjoyed photography and took many pictures of family, friends, and animals all of which he loved. He also enjoyed using his video camera. He was an inveterate collector of nick knacks.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Jean (Linder) Bishop of Lincoln, Kansas.
He is survived by his three brothers: Robert D. (Jean Ann) Linder, Manhattan, Kansas, James G. Linder, Texarkana, Texas, and William A. (Lynda) Linder, Lindsborg, Kansas. There are fifteen nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his companion of many years, Bonnie Young and his pet cat Little Mo.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Christians Funeral Home in Lindsborg with burial following at Elmwood Cemetery.
