Obituary of Derothea "Dee" Legleiter

Derothea "Dee" Legleiter, 88, of Salina, passed away Sunday, January 19, 2014. She was born September 21, 1925 in King City, Missouri, the daughter of Lloyd King and Grace Gerber. She married Sylvester R. Jerry Legleiter, in Troy, Kansas September 28, 1946. A daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" (Thomas) Johnson was born to this union. Her husband, Jerry, preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded by a brother, Lloyd King, Jr. Dee worked at Beechcraft Defense Factory in the early 1940's in Wichita while she earned her cosmotology degree. She opened her beauty shop on the farm when they moved to Marquette in 1962. She enjoyed her friendships with her many customers. She looked forward to her outings with her "Red Hat" friends and she was a faithful member of the Marquette American Legion Auxiliary for 48 years. Dee leaves behind many loved ones including her daughter, Beth (Thomas) Johnson, Marquette, sisters; Shirley Bears, Maryville, MO and Streausie Bryson, King City, MO, grandson, Troy Johnson, Salina and granddaughter Cherisa Tucker, McPherson, great grandchildren: Trevor Johnson, Tyson Tucker, Jastin Ellyson and Jadin Ellyson and four great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7pm Tuesday and 9am-1 pm Wednesday at Christians Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00, Wednesday, January 22 at the Marquette Cemetery.
