Inga-Lill Eliason, 93, of Lindsborg, passed away October 26, 2013 at Lindsborg Community Hospital.
Inga-Lill was born February 28, 1920 in Gothenburg, Sweden to Karl Albert and Inger Edvardina (Nissen) Tornquist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl-Erik and ten siblings in Sweden.
Survivors include a daughter, Maj-Britt (Don) Hawk, grandson, John Hawk and his sons Eric and Briton of Lindsborg, grandson, David (Svetlana) Hawk and their children, Michael and Julia of Lindsborg.
In her teens, Inga-Lill began working in a paint factory in Gothenburg where she met Karl-Erik Eliason, the love of her life. They danced and sailed and entertained friends and family in their home. Inga-Lill was an excellent cook.
In 1952, Karl-Erik, Inga-Lill and daughter, Maj-Britt, immigrated to America for a three year experience of learning about the paint business. They stayed five years and became U.S. citizens in 1957. The Eliasons made their first home in Oakland, California. Karl-Erik worked as a chemical engineer and Inga-Lill as a drapery seamstress in San Francisco. They made many friends in the Bay Area.
Inga-Lill welcomed many to her table to eat and enjoy. She was upbeat about life in general and fun to be around.
In 1987, after selling their business in southern California, they moved to Lindsborg to be near family. Inga-Lill was a lady of faith. Having been born and raised in the Lutheran Church in Sweden, they joined and became active in a church wherever they lived. Inga-Lill was co-founder of the Swedish Friendship Group and was active in various clubs and activities in Lindsborg. She hosted many Swedish visitors in her home and her warm and gracious spirit will be missed by family and friends. Inga-Lill was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 29, from 4-7pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Bethany Lutheran Church following the committal service at 1 PM at Elmwood Cemetery both in Lindsborg.
Memorials may be designated to Bethany Lutheran Church in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N. Washington PO Box 386 Lindsborg, KS 67456.
