Her Work of Art
By: Jack Rutherford / May 7, 2019
Again it is time to honor mother, we do it every year;
Weather you do it with a gift, or just by being near.
Perhaps a barbeque, with friends and family there;
A chance for everyone, to show her that they care.
Your mother made a choice, to make your life reality;
A choice that added your branch, to the family tree.
She taught you how to love, and how to disagree;
And helped you make choices, to be all you can be.
Each of us are the result, of the choices that she made;
Our lives also reflect, all the prices that she paid.
The sacrifices that she made, to move you ahead;
The plans she put aside for her, thinking of you instead.
Today we honor mother, lift a glass and make a toast;
To the woman in your life, that influenced you the most.
If your mother has passed, she’s always in your heart;
Her legacy to this world, is you ‘Her Work of Art’.

Happy Birthday Mother
By: Jack Rutherford / August 28, 2015
In memory of my mother, Wilma Arlene Hughan-Rutherford
Mother's birthday is today, but she can’t tell her age;
She’s no longer with us; her life has turned another page.
As the family sits here talking, as the conversations flow;
The memories came flooding back, of days so long ago.
When she worked beside my dad, from morning until dusk;
Raising a family, on hard work love and trust.
I remember well my younger days, working on the farm;
She always said hard labor, never done you any harm.
And she’d never go to sleep at night, ‘cause sometimes we’d be late;
A dedicated mother, who didn’t mind the wait.
Now a whole new generation, is now part of God’s great plan;
Mother’s name has changed, she is now known as great and grand.
As we sit around the room, reminiscing things gone by;
We each one by one, re-live our last good-bye.
And as we jubilantly sing, happy birthday dear;
We smile, remember, and wipe away a tear.

Happy Mother’s Day
By: Jack Rutherford / May 10, 2014
Everybody’s had one; everybody’s been loved by one. She brought us all into this world. A lady with a heart of gold and we all called her mother. I hope you have yours for a long time.
As Mother’s Day approaches, these things come to mind;
Mother is no longer with us, she has left this world behind.
As I sit here with my thoughts, as the scenes of the past flow;
The memories come flooding back of days so long ago.
When she worked beside my dad, from morning until dusk;
Raising a family, on hard work, love and trust.
I remember well my younger days, working on the farm;
She always said hard labor, never done you any harm.
And she’d never go to sleep at night, ‘cause sometimes we’d be late;
A dedicated mother who didn’t mind the wait.
Now a whole new generation is a part, of God’s abundant plan;
Mother’s name has changed, she’s now known as great and grand.
As I recall the things I did, on my face there is a grin;
It’s fun to sit and reminisce, about what I did back then.
Then my memories always drift, to our last good-bye;
My smile never fades, but a tear comes to my eye.
A mother is a special gift, sent to us from God above;
She is placed in our lives, to show us how to love.
The lessons that she teaches, will remain with us for life;
So tell your mother that you love her, and thank her for the sacrifice.
