Obituary of Irene Dauer

Irene Eleanor Dauer, 98, passed away June 5, 2013, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg Kansas. She was born April 16, 1915, the daughter of Joseph E. and Amelia A. (Larson) Soderberg in Falun Kansas. Irene was united in marriage to Herman F. Dauer on December 5, 1937, in Salina, Kansas. They made their home in Falun, Kansas and were owners of Dauer Implement for over 50 years; Irene was involved in bookkeeping for the business. They moved to Lindsborg in 1984. Herman passed away December 11, 1987. She was a member of Falun Lutheran Church, where she was former member of WELCA, Chairman of Service Committee many years, Sunday School assistant superintendent and teacher. She was instrumental in organizing the Falun Senior Citizens; and enjoyed membership and activities in the "47 Club" from its beginning in 1947. Family gatherings were special to Irene. She entertained with grace and held traditions close. For nearly the past ten years Irene had been a resident of Bethany Home. She enjoyed many activities and made friends with the other residents and staff. Her family is grateful to Bethany Home for the loving care she received. The staff was not just care givers, but members of her extended family. We appreciate the kind thoughts and deeds during her life there. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers: Morris and Arnold Soderberg, and sisters: Josephine Griep, and Maxine Soderberg. Irene leaves behind many loved ones including her son, Steven Dauer (Marla) of Assaria, daughter, Sondra Carlson (Stan) of Joplin, MO. Irene was also a beloved "Granny" to her grandchildren: Scott Carlson (Kristie), Michael Dauer (Stacy Dougherty), Steve Carlson (Heather), Jim Dauer (Patti), Melissa Brumbaugh (Nick), and Great Grandchildren: Kelby & Seth Carlson of Enid OK, Sydney Dauer of Salina, Cade & Bodee Carlson of Joplin Mo and Cole & Ellie Brumbaugh of Lindsborg, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, from 4-7 pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, June 10, at Falun Lutheran Church, with burial following at Falun Cemetery.
