Willard I. Ericson, 90, of Prairie Village, formerly of Marquette, passed away February 21, 2013.
He was born October 29, 1922, the son of Willie and Amy (Hopp) Ericson in Marquette, KS.
Willard was united in marriage to Marjorie Grace Ferguson on April 5, 1946 in Marquette, KS. She passed away September 15, 2009.
He was a farmer and rancher, serving as president of the Kansas Angus Association, and inducted into the Kansas Angus Hall of Fame. He was active in the community as a school board member as well as a Community Leader in 4-H Club. As a lifelong member of Elim Lutheran Church, he served on the church board and sang in the choir.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie, son, Tim Ericson, brother, Lloyd Ericson, and sister, LaFern Olson.
Willard is survived by his daughter, Jill and husband Terry Oakleaf of Leawood, son, Shannon and wife Laura Ericson of Overland Park, grandchildren: Kelly and husband Jason Hayes, Jeff Oakleaf, Kevin and wife Sarah Oakleaf, Will Ericson, Elizabeth Ericson, and great-grandchildren: Parker Oakleaf, and Harrison and Carter Hayes.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 27th, from 5-7pm at Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am Thursday, February 28th at Elim Lutheran Church, with burial following at Marquette Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be designated for Elim Lutheran Church or Riverview Estates in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N. Washington PO Box 386 Lindsborg, KS 67456.
