Maxine Madeline (Clark) Magnuson, 95, died Oct. 23, 2012. She was born Dec. 17, 1916, on the family farm south of Roxbury, Kansas. She was the daughter of Roy and Elsie (Brown) Clark and was one of seven children born to this union. She met Charles Magnuson at a dance in Gypsum, Kansas, and they married on Oct. 2, 1941, in Lindsborg, Kansas. They made their home on the Magnuson family farm near Bridgeport, Kansas, where they raised four daughters: Judy, Jill, Jackie and Janelle. Charles died July 28, 1985. Maxine received a teaching certificate from McPherson College and taught for five years at two McPherson County rural schools - Enterprise and Rose Hill. She was a homemaker and helped her husband farm for many years. Then in 1966 she went to work for the Assaria Grade School as secretary/librarian until she retired. Maxine loved to read and work crossword puzzles. She enjoyed helping to develop the Assaria Lutheran church library and was a member of the Miriam Group. Maxine was preceded in death by her husband Charles, grandson Jeff Brax, five siblings: sister, Juanita Clark and brothers, Gordon Clark, Bob Clark, Bill Clark and Larry Clark. Survivors are daughters: Judy (Dennis) Lilly, Jill (Bob) Brax, Jackie (Bob) Ash, Janelle Magnuson, sister, Carol Jean (Charles) Hunsinger, sisters-in-law, Maxine Clark and Rose Clark; six grandchildren, Tracy Faulkner, Erin Rollins, Angie Newkirk, Tyler Ash, Stacy Ash and Molly Perez; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Sunday, October 28th from 4-7 PM with family present from 6-7 PM at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. Burial will be held October 29th at 9:30 AM at Rose Hill Cemetery, Bridgeport, KS, with a Memorial Service following at 10:30 AM at Assaria Lutheran Church.
