Lou Ella ( Neuenschwander) Erickson Davis 71, of Salina passed away on the 23rd of August, 2012 at Sterling House, Salina, Kansas. Lou was born June 27th, 1941 in rural McPherson County to Kenneth and Lillian (Holcomb) Neuenschwander of Canton, Kansas. On July 24, 1960 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Gene Erickson. To this union 2 children were born, Lois and Lorna. After the passing of Lawrence Gene Erickson on September 29th, 1986, Lou married Loren Ray Davis, September 28th, 1991.
Lou was a homemaker and worked at Farmers Alliance in McPherson. Gene and Lou made their home in Lindsborg where she worked at Hazelwood Paper Box, Bethany College Cafeteria and later at Century manufacturing as well as second jobs around town. Lou was an active member in of Bethany Lutheran Church, Girl Scouts and Swedish Dancers. Lou enjoyed bowling and traveling with her team to various bowling tournaments. Lou was also active in EHU, Jay C Janes, Meals on Wheels, Bunco and Villa Ro Board. Lou also enjoyed her involvement in local politics.
Lou was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Lou was preceded in death by husbands Lawrence Gene Erickson and Loren Ray Davis, her parents and her brother Ted Neuenschwander.
Lou will be deeply missed by her daughters, Lois Moyer and husband Terry of Salina, Kansas and Lorna Schriner and husband Ron of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren, Scott Moyer, Steven Moyer, Seth Moyer and Stephanie Moyer all of Salina; Amn. Alex Schriner, Beale AFB, California, Noah Schriner and Lillian Schriner of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Sisters, Lucille Matta of Biloxi, Mississippi; Joyce Shultis of McPherson, Kansas; Kay Zimmerman of McPherson, Kansas; Verda Culbertson and husband George of Port Allen, Louisiana; brother Jim Neuenschwander and wife Roanna of Edmond, Oklahoma; many nieces and nephews and cousins and a host of friends.
Lou had a gentle spirit and always made sure everyone felt welcome. Lou enjoyed entertaining and having friends over to play cards and dice. She was the proudest when she was able to bake pastries and Swedish Tea Rings. She took pride in making Ostakaka and Potato Sausage for family gatherings and friends.
Lou was proud of her daughters, spouses and grandchildren and the many trips which they had taken and the activities they attended. Gene and Lou enjoyed attending the Bethany College ball games as well as Loren and Lou enjoyed the Saturday night car races, as well as traveling and entertaining. Lou enjoyed her new friends at Sterling House and greatly loved them all.
Lou, mom, grandmother and friend of many is now at peace with our precious Lord.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 PM at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
Lou's family invites everyone to a luncheon prior to the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg. Burial will follow at New Gottland Cemetery.
