Obituary of Hubert Mattingly Jr.

Hubert Edward Mattingly Jr., 87, of Lindsborg, passed away January 8, 2012. He was born April 6, 1924, the son of Hubert and Susan (Buckler) Mattingly in Sparland, IL. Hubert was a World War II Veteran of the Army Air Corps. He married Marlys Spongberg on January 24, 1946, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Lindsborg. He was preceded in death by sisters; Virginia Lopeman, Agnes Laible-Bolte, Susan Mooberry, Angela Hank, granddaughter, Karen Jill Bass, and son-in-law, Donnie Davis. Hubert is survived by his wife, Marlys of Lindsborg, son, Hubert Mattingly III (Debra) of Palmetto, FL, daughters; Jane Peterson (Hal) of Salina, Betty Amos (Bruce) of Lindsborg, Joan Lindfors (Allan) of Marquette, Connie Davis of Winter Garden, FL, brothers; Leon Mattingly (Jean) of Henry, IL, Jim Mattingly (Mary Jane) of Lacon, IL, sisters; Sister Cecilia Mattingly of Peoria, IL, M. Polly McAllister of Henry, IL, Mary Russell (Lloyd) of Henry, IL, Pat Hess of Washington, IL, grandchildren; Junie Biddle (Jeff), Peggy Bush (Russell), Billy Bass (Mary Ellen), Darin Amos, Kara Amos, Megan Amos, Andrew Kelley (Dana), Steven Kelley (Deana), Hannah Kelley, Ryan Hamilton (Yvonne), Jacob Hamilton, Allison Wolf (Josh), Kurt Mattingly (Nichole), Miranda Mattingly, and 20 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm Friday at Bethany Lutheran Church. Private family burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.
