Paul Willard Dahlsten, 92, of Lindsborg, passed away January 3, 2012. Paul was born March 15, 1919 to Arvid and Huldah Olson Dahlsten. He attended Freemount Grade School, Lindsborg High school, Bethany College and Kansas State University with a major in Agriculture. Paul served in the US Army as a Sergeant 1941-1945. He married Norma Holmes Condit Dahlsten June 26,1949. Paul and Norma farmed in McPherson Co 1953-69. He was dedicated to Conservation Farming methods. He was employed by Finney Co. Soil Conservation Service, Garden City, KS; Bureau of Reclamation, Huron, SD and Riverton, WY; Oahe Conservancy Irrigation District, Huron, SD; and SD Dept of Agriculture, soil and water specialist, Pierre, SD from 1969-84. He and Norma retired to Lindsborg in 1984. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church throughout his life, a member of the Lions Club, American Legion, Conservation Board, Ks Archeological Assoc, and was a supporter of Friendly Fremont 4-H Club. He enjoyed singing with Bethany Oratorio Society, stayed active playing pool at the Senior Center, BINGO at the Am Legion, with church and community activities, and dog food business. Preceded in death by his wife, Norma; infant daughter, Nancy Rae; parents, brother Amos and wife Ada; Survived by daughters Beverly Cherry Foley, MN and Judy (Kevin) Smith Maize, KS; Sons Steve (Lynn) Pomeroy, IA and Frank, North Sioux City, NB; Grandchildren Nathan Popple, Amanda and Aaron Smith, Jonathan, Joshua, Jael Dahlsten, Jenna Wish-te-yah, Zachary Dahlsten; 3 Great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 2:00pm at Bethany Home Chapel, Lindsborg. Private family burial will be at Freemount Lutheran Cemetery, Fremont. Memorials to Bethany Home, the American Legion Emil Pinkall Post 140 Lindsborg, KS or Hospice of Kansas.
