Rodney LaVere Anderson, 87, of Smolan, passed away November 16, 2011.
He was born November 27, 1923, in Lindsborg, KS, the son of Reuben Emanuel and Bettie Bendissa (Johnson) Anderson.
He married Sharon Swisher on February 21, 1969.
Rodney was a World War II Veteran. He was a third generation farmer on the family Century Farm. He attended Brown Mackie College where he received a certificate in Business Administration. He worked for Rapid Air Service, El Dorado Motor Homes, and retired from Sterling Drug Manufacturing Company, McPherson.
He enjoyed his antique vehicles and was a member of the fromer Midwest Antique Auto Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Romaine John & Glendon. Rodney is survived by his wife Sharon; son, Ted Holcom and wife Jaylene of Lindsborg; daughter, Lucinda Holcom of Marquette; sisters-in-law, Mary Anderson of Junction City, Mary Downey of Hot Springs Village, AR; grandchildren, Jeffery Holcom and wife Tiffany of Lindsborg, Jason Holcom of Mammoth Springs, AR, Justin Holcom of Lindsborg; great-grandchildren, Jason, Mackenzie, and Mason of Lindsborg, and Kadin of Mammoth Springs, AR.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7pm with family present from 6-7pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
Burial will be held at 10AM Monday at Salemsborg Lutheran Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lindsborg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated for Trinity United Methodist Church or Salina Animal Shelter in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N. Washington PO Box 386 Lindsborg, KS 67456.
