Marjorie Jane Oleen, was born December 9, 1922 in rural Marquette, KS, the daughter of Charles and Harriet "Hattie" (Buchanan) Hoffhines. She passed away at Bethany Home, Lindsborg, KS, on Friday, October 7, 2011.
Marjorie received a teaching certificate from Bethany College and taught school prior to her marriage to Carroll E. Oleen on October 6, 1946. They lived on their farm near Falun. She was a member of Falun Lutheran Church and was involved in church and community activities. Marjorie and Carroll enjoyed the farming and cattle and attended many high school and college ballgames. She took pride in being a parent and homemaker, had a deep faith, and a great love of family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll in 1992; sister, Harriet Nelson; and brothers, Allen and Robert Hoffhines.
Survivors include three sons: Glenn (Gwen), Falun, Charles, Falun; R. Clair (Jerrine), Lindsborg; six grandchildren: Kristi Kern (Jason); Lori Thielen (Matt); Jenny Oleen; Brandon Oleen (Jodi); Nathan Oleen (Shannon); Andrea Ware (J); four great-grandchildren: Kelton and Marcus Kern; Hallie and Brooklyn Thielen; brother-in-law, Robert Oleen, Dwight; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7pm with family present from 6-7pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30pm Wednesday at Falun Lutheran Church, with burial following at Falun Cemetery.
Memorials may be designated for Falun Lutheran Church or Bethany Home in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N. Washington PO Box 386 Lindsborg, KS 67456.
