Obituary of Norma Dahlsten

Norma Juanita Holmes passed away August 4, 2011.
She was born November 10, 1919 to Frances LaMay Holmes and Oral Holmes in Liberal, Kansas.
She graduated in 1937 from Liberal High School, and then married Halsey Condil at the Methodist Church in Liberal, Kansas.
They farmed in rural Liberal, Two Buttes, Colorado, and Cortez, Colorado.
Halsey was inducted into the U. S. Army and did his basic training at Fort Bliss. Norma worked in a bank in El Paso, Texas. Halsey was sent to Germany, and Norma moved to Garden City, Kansas.
Norma worked in the Register of Deeds office in the Finney County Courthouse.
She was president of Business and Professional Women and president of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Halsey returned home from Germany and met with a fatal tractor accident.
Paul W. Dahlsten and Norma met at the Finney County Courthouse where both worked. Paul and Norma were married June 26, 1949 in Freemount Lutheran Church in rural Lindsborg, Kansas.
They lived in Garden City, Kansas, rural Lindsborg, Kansas, Huron, South Dakota, Pierre, South Dakota, Riverton, Wyoming, Vermillion, South Dakota, and retired in Lindsborg, Kansas.
Norma belonged to the Hospital Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, Freemount Lutheran Church, the Smoky Valley Historical Society, and attended the Senior Center for lunch and fellowship. She was a Friendly Freemont 4-H Club supporter and leader.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents, a infant daughter, Nancy Rae, a sister, Gladys Fuller, two brothers Milford and Ivan Dean Holmes.
Survivors include husband, Paul W. Dahlsten of Lindsborg, daughters Beverly Joy Cherry, Foley, Minnesota, and Judy Reve Smith, of Maize, Kansas, sons, Frank Roger Dahlsten, of Dakota City, Iowa, and Steve Brent Dahlsten of Humboldt, Iowa, 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4-7pm Sunday at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Bethany Home Chapel, Lindsborg. Private family burial will be held at Freemount Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be designated for Bethany Home or Kansas Food Bank Food-4-Kids in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N Washington Street P. O. Box 386 Lindsborg, KS.
