Please share a memory of Viola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Viola Christopher, 94, of Falun, passed away July 13, 2011. Viola was born April 14, 1917 in Salina, Kansas to Carl A. and Emma Christine (Anderson) Ross. She had a younger brother Vernon Ross. Viola was a graduate of Salina High School. She married Fredolph Christopher on August 11, 1944, in her family's home west of Salina, KS after Fredolph returned from serving his country in the Army Air Corps in Africa during WWII. Viola was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family, playing table games, baking, playing the piano, singing, and traveling. Viola and Fredolph would take a trip with their children every summer, and in the later years the two of them took bus and plane trips all over the United States and Scandinavia. At 91 Viola took her son Jim, daughter in-law Lisa, & sister in-law Anne Ross, with her on a cruise to the inside passage of Alaska. When she was 93 she took a car trip with Jim and Lisa to Dothan, Alabama for her grandson Dallas' wedding. Viola was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Lindsborg. She served the church through the years in many ways, including playing the piano and singing in the choir through her 80's. Viola along with Fredolph also enjoyed singing together for many years in the Messiah Chorus, and would put on musical programs for Bethany Home. Many times their programs would involve some of their family members including their grandchildren. During her later years, music continued to be a daily enjoyment for Viola as she could be found playing the piano any time during the day well into her 90's. She also spent much time listening to Christian radio, especially the ministry of Dr. David Jeremiah. She was preceded in death by her husband Fredolph on March 25, 1998, and by her brother, Vernon Ross. She is survived by son, Jim and wife Lisa Christopher of Falun, daughter, Marna and husband Dallas W. Burright of Chicago, grandchildren, April and husband Josh Choate of Minnetonka, MN, Aaron and wife Jennifer Christopher of Minneapolis, MN, Adam Christopher of Ithaca, NY, Dallas B. and wife Heather Burright of Chicago, Rebecca Burright of Chicago, 4 great-grandchildren, Ariel, Anders, and Annika Choate, and Yma Christopher, cousin June Bork, two sister in-law's, Anne Ross and Margaret Christopher, along with many nieces and nephews.
