Gisela Holk, 76, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011. Gisela Renate Wrede was born on September 9, 1934, in Berlin, Gemany. On July 26, 1955, she married an American sailor, Deslee David Holk, in Paris, France. Together they had six children. Gisela's three biggest loves were her family, cooking, and playing bingo. Additionally, Gisela may have been born a German, but she was very proud to become an American. Gisela always said the best years of her life were spent cooking amongst family and friends at her restaurant, The Tomte. She treasured those years and the friendships she made. Her customers became like family to her. Gisela was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Bronislawa (Bogaletski) Wrede, and her beloved husband, Deslee. Gisela is survived by her sister, Edda Davey of Mesa, AZ, and her six children, daughter, Nancy Holk of Lindsborg, son, Glenn Holk and wife Beverly of Moyock, NC, son, Gordon Holk and wife Julie of East Hampton, CT, son, Boyd Holk and wife Tineka of Londonderry, NH, daughter, Christine Schwartz and husband Jack of Vail, CO, and daughter, Laura Flynn and husband Mark of Lindsborg, and her five grandchildren, Bethany, Emma, David, Tanner, Laynie, and Ellie. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 3, at 10:30AM at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. Burial will follow at Smoky Hill Cemetery, Lindsborg. A reception with family will be held at the American Legion following the committal service. Memorials may be designated to the Lindsborg American Legion Auxiliary in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N. Washington PO Box 386 Lindsborg, KS 67456.
