Obituary of Kenneth Lutman
Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth (Kenny) Lutman, age 88, of Lindsborg, Kansas, passed peacefully into the arms of the Heavenly Father on April 20, 2011, following a brief illness.
Kenny was born to Harry and Estella Lutman of Colver, Pennsylvania on July 31, 1922. He was raised in Revloc, Pennsylvania, where he lived until joining the Army in 1942. In 1943, while on pass from his military duty as a guard for German prisoners-of-war being held at Camp Phillips, Kansas, he met his future wife Dorothy Patrick. In 1944, Kenny was shipped overseas where he served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. After the war, Kenny returned to Kansas and married Dorothy Patrick on May 6, 1946. Kenny and Dorothy settled in Lindsborg, Kansas, where they raised their four children. Kenny worked as a civilian employee at the Smokey Hill AFB in Salina, Kansas, and later worked for and retired from both the City of Lindsborg Utilities Department and the Farmers State Bank. Kenny was a proud veteran who loved his county and his flag. His veteran pride was evident through his work and life-time membership with American Legion Post 140, where he served in a variety of positions, to include Post Commander. Kenny was an active member in the Lindsborg community and a long-time member of the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church. Kenny was a devoted husband who was eagerly looking forward to his upcoming 65th wedding anniversary to Dorothy, the love of his life, on May 6, 2011.
Kenny was preceded in death by his four brothers, four sisters, eldest son Robert, grandson Jhamahl Miles, and four great grandsons. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, sons Wayne and Steven Lutman, daughter Mary Shelton, and many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-7pm at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg.
