Willard Turnbull, 69, of Assaria, passed away February 27, 2011. He was born August 9, 1941, the son of Ole and Leila (Kufalk) Turnbull, in Junction City, Kansas. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the Navy. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 33 years, and was active in the Assaria Lions Club, Telephone Pioneers of America, and Salina Senior Center. On June 11, 1967, he married Mickey Louise Smith at Clay Center, Kansas. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy, and 3 granddaughters. Willard is survived by his wife, Mickey of Assaria, son, Ward Turnbull (Lisa) of Navarre, KS, daughters, Gwen Turnbull of Assaria, and Patty Belk (David) of Salina, brother, Clifford Turnbull of St. Paul, MN, sisters, Linda Avery of Bismark, ND, Edith Aryes of Burr Oak, KS, Gloria McVaugh of Colorado Springs, and 9 grandchildren. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm Sunday at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 7 at Christians Funeral Home, Lindsborg, KS. Burial will be held at Gypsum Cemetery. Memorials may be designated for the family for distribution at a later date in care of Christians Funeral Home 103 N Washington Street P. O.
