Obituary of Gloria Wilson

Gloria Jean Wilson, of Salina, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Kenwood View Nursing Home in Salina, after battling Parkinson's for many years. Gloria was born March 23, 1924, in Emporia, KS, to Edgar LeRoy Stair and Nellie I. Fidler. Gloria has been a resident of Salina for over 60 years, and a devoted member of Salina Bible Church as well. Gloria worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company from December 1948 to April 1989. Gloria married Joseph Robert Wilson on November 18, 1992. She enjoyed music greatly, and played the piano her entire life. She and several friends had a small organ group called "The Dizzy Fingers". She was also a longtime member of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA), for which she received "Woman of the Year" in 1999/2000. Through the ABWA she assisted in giving scholarships to young women, something she took much pride in. Gloria took up an interest and classes in genealogy after her retirement, and was able to discover rich family history to pass on to her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. She loved to fish, camp, and travel as well. Gloria was preceded in death by her son Charles B. Bauersfeld. She is survived by her husband Joseph Robert Wilson of Salina, granddaughters, Carri and Ginger Maioriello, 5 great-granddaughters all of Los Angeles, CA, and daughter -in law Rebecca Bauersfeld of Overland Park, KS. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be from 11am until service time at Salina Bible Church. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, at Salina Bible Church.
