Obituary of Ina Rush

Ina May Rush, 84, passed away Saturday morning, Jan. 1, 2011, at Lindsborg Community Hospital, following a brief illness. She was born July 28, 1926, at Langley, KS, the daughter of George and Ina L. (Kindt) Mitchell.
She was raised in the Langley community and graduated from Marquette High School in 1944.
On Feb. 9, 1944, she was united in marriage to Bart William Rush at McPherson, KS, while he was home on leave from the U.S. Army. To this union four children were born, Glenda Mae, Don William, Debora Faye and Mitchell Allen. The couple lived in Langley before moving to Marquette in 1963.
Over the years, Ina May was a homemaker but also worked outside of the home. She was a cook at the Langley school, and at numerous restaurants in the Marquette and Lindsborg area, a clerk at Duesberg Liquor for many years, a laundress at Riverview Estates, and retired after 20 years from USD 400 as a bus driver.
Ina May was a member of Elim Lutheran Church, the Marquette American Legion Auxiliary, Town & Country Club and the Marquette Senior Center, where she was a former board member.
Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Ina, three brothers, Lowell, George Jr., and Donald Mitchell, her husband, Bart W. Rush in 1990, one son, Don W. Rush in 2005, and one sister, Dorothy Tiefenthaler.
Survivors include her children, Glenda Julian, Deb Rush, Mitch Rush and wife, Karen, all of Marquette; one sister, Naomi "Kink" Crawford and husband, Bill, Prescott Valley, AZ; three grandchildren, Kevin Baxter, Marquette, Melissa Baxter, Kanopolis, and Gwen Klepper and husband, Jeff, Ellinwood; five great-grandchildren, Josie Riggs, Lane, Ashtin and Grant Klepper, and Kayla Baxter; and numerous other relatives.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2011, at Elim Lutheran Church, Marquette, with Pastor Fred Schmidt officiating.
A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Marquette Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Marquette Wolverine Booster Club or the Marquette Senior Center.
