Obituary of Joan E. Hopp

Joan Eleanor Hopp, 92, of Lindsborg passed away Monday, January 15, 2024 at Bethany Home of Lindsborg, KS. Joan was born April 26, 1931 in McPherson, KS to the late Gilbert and the late Pearl (Danielson) Bengtson. Joan married Merle L. Hopp on August 21, 1949 in Lindsborg, KS. She was a high school graduate and worked for many years in the cafeteria at Bethany College. Joan was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She was active in the church auxiliary, as well as the Lindsborg Community Hospital Auxiliary. Joan also enjoyed membership in the American Legion Auxiliary, the Miriam Group, and the Mizar Club. She is survived by daughters: Diane Fiedler (Richard) of Salina, KS, Tammy Oborg (Craig) of Lindsborg, KS, and Vickie O'Steen (Jack) of Lindsborg, KS; sons: Larry Hopp of Wichita, KS and Dwight Hopp of Lindsborg, KS; brothers: Robert Bengtson of Branson, MO and James Bengtson of Topeka, KS; as well as 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild. Joan is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Merle; and sisters: Charlene Wilbur and Annette Lesser. Visitation will be Thursday, February 8 from 5-7PM at Crick-Christians Funeral Home, 103 N. Washington, Lindsborg, KS. The funeral will be held 10:30 am on Friday, February 9 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 320 N. Main St., Lindsborg, KS with Pastor Chris Deines officiating. Burial will be in Freemount Lutheran Cemetery, Lindsborg on Friday, February 9 at 11:30 am. Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or Bethany Home.
